Sponsored Spays Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims at reducing the number of pets euthanized in shelters each year. We provide spays and neuters to families who could not otherwise afford it, and help caring animal-lovers sponsor pets who need to be fixed.
Yes! We are a 501c3 non-profit organization, and donors are able to deduct their contributions on their tax returns.
We work with Veterinarians across the US, so we are not limited to specific areas- we serve Pet Owners across the entire United States.
1. Apply through the form on our "Pets waiting for sponsorship" page, or by calling us. Once the application has been submitted, wait 24-48 hours for processing and approval.
2. Once approved, you will be notified via email or phone. We reach out to the vet of choice that you listed on your application for a quote, or if there was no preference, we will select a vet close to you. Once a spay/neuter quote is gathered, we will list your pet on our site.
3. Once your pet's Spay or Neuter is sponsored, you will quickly be notified by phone or email. We will reach out to your vet directly to make the payment, and you will contact the vet to set up an appointment.
We aim to get pets spayed and neutered quickly, although exact times can vary. Sponsors are able to pick freely from an online list. Any donations made that aren't directed to a specific pet, go towards the pet that has been waiting the longest.
We vow to always be completely transparent on how donations are used. Donations go directly to the pets' surgeries. We facilitate payment directly to the patient's account at the Veterinarian's office, insuring funds are never misused. It is specified on the patient's account that the funds are for the Spay and Neuter Surgery.
Donations that are not designated to a specific pet's "Fix Me!" button, will go towards fixing the pet that has been on our site the longest. This includes all one time, and monthly, donations.
How do we keep the program running?
In order to pay for administrative, platform, marketing, and compliance fees, we add 10% to each surgery cost. So when we call a veterinarian's office and get a $100 quote to neuter a cat, we post that cat's neuter cost at $110 and put the extra $10 towards continuing our cause.
How do we remain Transparent?
We will be releasing end of the month numbers- specifically detailing how much was donated, how many pets were spayed and neutered, and where all expenses went. We are kicking this program off late January 2026, and sharing our progress as we go.
Thousands of dogs and cats die every day due to over-filled shelters. There are not enough funds, not enough good homes, not enough space, and not enough staff and volunteers to handle the number of homeless dogs and cats.
We believe there is a place in this world for responsible, ethical, preservation breeders. Preservation breeders that improve and keep alive the breeds that we all love so much. But this requires a level of dedication and professional knowledge most pet owners do not understand. Health testing at or above CHIC standards, proving an animal is worthy of breeding through achievements in show/performance, and being able to screen homes and take an animal back if it ever needs rehomed in its lifetime, is just the very beginning of responsible preservation breeding.
On the contrary, every time a pet is bred, each puppy or kitten produced takes the home that a shelter pet could have gone to. Or worse, they go to a shelter, likely a percentage of the litter not making it out alive. Then likely, a percentage of those puppies and kittens will go on to reproduce, just multiplying and multiplying the problem.
Spaying and neutering solves this.
It also prevents certain cancers in your pet; prevents sexual aggression and fighting; often takes away the urge to roam to find mates. Takes away the risk of you ever having to pay for the expenses of raising furry little ones. And most importantly- takes away from the number of pets killed each year.
Absolutely!
Want to be a part of the change?
We are looking for dedicated individuals who will kindly, gently, share our program with anyone who needs help spaying and neutering their pet. This includes inviting litter owners to apply that have obviously had an accidental litter, in a kind way that won't make them feel shamed and discourage them from the process. Although seeing litter after litter can affect our emotions, especially those of us that see pets needlessly die every day- we need to keep the goal in mind- helping pets.
While saying "WHY are you breeding when pets are dying in shelters every day?!" may turn litter owners away....
Saying "Would you consider accepting a gift of free spay/neuter of the parents?" would much more likely achieve the goal.
